The Voyage Out
Munkeruphus, Gilleleje, Denmark
2015

Abstraction and negation are important methods in Golles’ practice, which manifest itself in a number of recurring motives that he repeats: the night, darkness, black, sand, soil, ashes, stone, ruins, eye! Abstraction is taken to extremes and negation becomes the pervasive figure – that, which will not die, the residue that remains beyond the life of the individual.

The works consistently avoid any sentimental desire for reconciliation with a world and imagery that rarely escapes fundamental and inhuman barbarism!
